Sapanca Lake is one of the few lakes to be used as drinking water and it has many types of fish in its fertile water.The types of fish that live in the lake include pike, catfish, carp, mirror carp, tench, perch, freshwater mackerel, rudd, trout, rainbow trout, gobies, shad and chub.
Every September, Sapanca Municipality and Tourism Society organize an event about fish; in this event, fish is served to the participants along with different music presentations, and talks on fish culture are made throughout the festival.
